Stacey's Fish Fry Reviews

Good food and friendly service. The only negative is the cost is getting pretty high. Buffets are now $25 per person, and the senior rate has been raised to those 67 years of age or more (after I just turned 62). Cokes and credit cards cost extra. It's good, but not $25 good. If they lower their senior rate back to 62, I'll be back. At 62, I can't eat enough to warrant $25 for fish. On a positive note, I heard the bell again tonight. Thank you for bringing back that tradition (nice touch)!

We have some property down the road and come here every once in a while. Love it. Atmosphere is great and the food is delicious.

Fish and shrimp were good but not impressed with the rest the service was ok Ambiance was nothing special.

Delicious plentiful food. Senior discount. Went early so not too crowded. Had fun with my husband's cousins.

If your looking for an all you can eat of your favorites- fish fry- shrimp- chicken- beans and ll the trimmings! Love the blackberry cobbler and ice cream! Can't miss this iconic restaurant! Easy on the pocket book- just remember Cash Only!

If you want country, this joint is for you. You pay $20 per person at the door, then let the fun begin! There's lots of brown food (fried), but also peel-eat shrimp (delicious, by buddy ate his body weight) and some green leafy veg. The fries could spend a couple more minutes in the oil to actually get crispy. It's enough food that you will not go home hungry. The iced teas taste fresh. It's family style seating, so I hope you're not an introvert.

Only open on Friday and Saturday nights. Opens at 4, we got there shortly after. Restaurant filled up soon after. Fixed price $20, unfortunately I did not know that they give senior discount for over 60, which is only $16. Buffet service. Nice selection of salad items. Green tomato relish was very good. Boiled peel and eat shrimp was very good. Fried shrimp was also very good. Fried catfish was good, but I have had better. Hush puppies on target. Cobbler was just ok. Ambiance is rustic, but seemed clean. Out of the way location, but would go back.

This place is a kind of challenge for me to write about as i have, try as i might to come up with something, not much negative in mind to say about it. And in this pleasant discovery I must say the scales were lifted from my eyes in that I came to better appreciate the pleasant folk tradition in this part of rural Texas. Here on the side of the road in this fairly hard to come across little town, it is the small country town weekend fish fry which, it turns out, is the only business this venue conducts during the entire week. Friday and Saturday nights residents or just about anybody else show up and for a very modest sum eat all the fried catfish and boiled shrimp one cares to enjoy. I happened on this place in my usual way, as I've been doing for decades now as a kind of life work: following the path laid down by the princes of serendip centuries ago. I put it this way, to be perfectly honest, in an effort to make my wanderings seem purposeful, my habit of looking under rocks and all around wherever i am hoping to be pleasantly surprised. A less generous view would be to say I simply don't know what else to do or where else to go with life anymore. As to why i have less to say when things are really quite fine? That's an easy one. It's like the old saying about wine, which goes more or less to wit if not concise... I much prefer bad wines to good because the bad are much more interesting, each being so in their own peculiar way, compared to the amenities of good wines, all of which are so for the same reasons. There are various items on Stacy's tables, a variety of vegetable appetizers, various potato things, plus desserts only a native Texan might relate to: banana and vanilla wafer pudding, peach cobbler, some similar kind of concoction based on fresh strawberry, etc. All this was quite tasty in a fried kind of way, and unless one were to get carried away by the "all you can eat" aspect, you leave this wooden shack of a place personally comfortable, and with a very enjoyable sense of having shared a food tradition with the locals that dates back in this area most likely well more than 150 years (totally made up figure that one, but who knows how long these folks have made banana pudding, which is obviously inspired by the much older recipe for traditional English trifle, adorned with sliced bananas). So I highly recommend this "all you can eat fish fry" country experience to anyone who happens along this highway some weekend evening. In a way I get the feeling I'm talking to myself about Stacy's, as people who know about it are already regulars. The odd stranger like myself who happens by will be welcomed, as I was, by the country people hereabouts. This was a genuinely warm experience of a type I'm frankly unused to anymore, which reminds how my normal life back home feels a bit empty these days.

This place is Grrreat! From the fish to you the Deserts and many options in between! The staff s also very friendly and very reassuring.
